Norbert Schnitzler schreibt in Bezug auf die Bilderst?rme in Norddeutschland, dass 'die T?ter in der Regel selektiv vorgingen und ihr Handeln spezifischen Spielregeln folgte.' Der Bilderst?rmer, so Schnitzler weiter, handele kontrolliert und w?hle Bilddarstellungen gezielt aus. Der ganze ikonoklastische Akt bekommt dadurch eine demonstrative Geste und einen appellativen Charakter. Es scheint, als ob diese Beobachtungen nicht nur den norddeutschen Bildersturm beschreiben, sondern eine allgemeine G?ltigkeit zumindest zu manchen Zeiten und in vielen Kulturr?umen entfalten. In dieser Arbeit geht es allerdings nicht um das allgemeine Ph?nomen des Ikonoklasmus, sondern um die Zerst?rungsdimensionen des Blicks, die vor allem durch ikonoklastische Akte sichtbar gemacht und verarbeitet werden. Bildzerst?rung bedeutet in diesem Fall, dass die Bildobjekte entstellt weiter als solche existieren. Die Zerst?rung wird also sinnenf?llig gemacht, anstatt das gesamte Medium zu beseitigen.
