Dieser hatte sich bereits mit antisemitischen Hetzfilmen wie zum Beispiel 'Jud S??' (1940) einen zweifelhaften Ruf erworben. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Genese, Zielsetzung und Rezeption des Films offenzulegen, den Quellenwert des Films als historische Quelle abzusch?tzen und die Frage nach der heutigen Zeigbarkeit und Relevanz eines solchen Werkes zu diskutieren. Die Arbeit ist in eine Einleitung, einen in drei Abschnitten unterteilten Hauptteil und eine Schlu?betrachtung gegliedert. Im ersten Abschnitt soll die Gleichschaltung des Mediums Film durch die Nationalsozialisten behandelt werden. Es soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, was man unter Propaganda zu verstehen hat. Desweiteren sollen die Entstehungsgeschichte von 'Kolberg' erl?utert und Veit Harlans literarische Vorlagen offengelegt werden. Im zweiten Abschnitt sollen neben dem Inhalt die propagandistische Zielsetzung, die Umst?nde der Urauff?hrung und die zeitgen?ssische Rezeption aufgezeigt werden. Im dritten Abschnitt soll die Frage des Wertes von Filmen als historische Quelle allgemein, als auch am Beispiel des Films 'Kolberg' behandelt werden. Der Abschnitt endet mit einigen Bemerkungen zur Rezeptionsgeschichte des Films 'Kolberg' nach dem Krieg. Die Schlu?bemerkung widmet sich in erster Linie der Frage, ob ein solcher Film inzwischen frei gezeigt werden sollte oder inwieweit er noch Gefahren in sich birgt.
